Craft Beer & Soul Food

The name comes from a chant, not a stagger. Zigge zagge, oi oi oi, the sort of thing you'd hear at Oktoberfest, and it stuck with Ngak, musician and craft beer devotee, when he opened this place.

He picked Kampong Bugis. Far-flung, riverside, a proper trek, but that's the charm. You arrive for the beer and stay for the tranquillity.

Through the doors, the first thing you see is a mural of a baby boy, Ngak's son, taking up the whole wall.

Then the Lego-built taps, pouring everything from session IPAs to imperial stouts, local names beside hard-to-find imports.

For the kitchen, Ngak partnered with Handlebar, Singapore's biker bar. Together they built a menu proper enough to be a destination in its own right: Cajun Chicken Gumbo, Biscuits and gravy, Jambalaya.

Since then, the room's taken on a life of its own. Quiz nights, open mic evenings, kids playing amongst themselves, dogs chilling beneath the tables.

There's always room for company at Ziggy Zaggy.
